Operating perspective

The revenue forecast is a financial assumption.

A pipeline number matters when management understands what it means for margin, cash and capacity.

Start with the drivers

A forecast needs more than a total. Separate volume, pricing, mix, conversion and timing. Finance and commercial leaders should agree which assumptions changed and why.

Make variance actionable

A missed target should trigger a decision. Is the gap caused by fewer opportunities, slower conversion, lower pricing or delivery timing? Assign an owner to the driver rather than treating the variance as a reporting problem.

Use one review cadence

Bring pipeline evidence and financial implications into the same operating review. Review the assumptions, identify the action and return to it next time.
